Quilting automation.
Panel and cover quilting equipment for decorative and structural stitch patterns.
The quilting category
What quilting does.
Quilting stitches the decorative and structural pattern into the top panel and cover of a mattress, binding the cover fabric, fill, and backing into one quilted sheet. The pattern a shopper runs a hand across in a showroom is set here, and so is the loft and hand of the sleep surface, which makes quilting one of the few production steps a customer judges directly.
Multi needle quilters carry rows of needles across a frame for high volume continuous patterns; single needle chain stitch quilters trace a programmed path for intricate or custom designs at lower speed. Some machines quilt roll goods continuously for later cutting; others quilt panel by panel to a finished size. Pattern library, stitch type, and the range of fill thickness a machine handles separate one class from another.
Quilting runs upstream of cutting and panel preparation, feeding the quilted goods that become finished panels, so its speed and pattern flexibility shape what the rest of the line can offer. When you choose a quilter, weigh pattern complexity against throughput, since multi needle is fast but less intricate and single needle is the reverse, the fill thickness and material range you build across, and whether you quilt continuous roll goods or discrete panels.
